make sure you own carbon monoxide detectors! (more than one)
Carbon monoxide can be deadly. This has nothing to do with Citadel Restoration’s services, but I wanted to post this video and blog because it’s a common issue we find.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas, and it can build up inside of a house. The most common causes are related to an improperly vented gas appliance, such as a water heater (shown in this video,) furnace, stove, etc.
There are many ways it can get into your living space, and the consequences are too severe to ignore.
It doesn’t matter if you have all-electric appliances or if you live in an apartment.
You still need to make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors. The risk is simply not worth it.
It might sound dramatic, but I’ve met too many homeowners in Houston who don’t own carbon monoxide detectors AND have a disconnected water heater/furnace vent in their attic.
